Dimitrios J. Vergados was born in Ioannina, Greece, in 1980. He was accepted in the National Technical University of Athens in 1998, and he received his diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2003. In 2008, he received his Ph.D. degree on wireless networks from the National Technical University of Athens, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In 2012-2013, he was awarded a 12 month fellowship in the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Telematics, Trondheim, Norway, through the EU-funded ERCIM post-doctoral fellowship program, under the supervision of prof. Yuming Jiang.
He has also worked as a Visiting Lecturer in several Greek Universities, and he has participated in several research projects in the areas of wireless networks, wireless sensors, and system design.

His research interests include wireless networks, simulation modeling, wireless sensor networks, wireless ad-hoc networks, scheduling algorithms, multi-hop networks, and algorithms/simulations for social and collective intelligence networks.

He is an author of 14 journal articles, 3 book chapters and 30 conference papers.
