Vasileios Gkamas was born in Ioannina, Greece in 1981. He obtained his Diploma of Information and Communication Systems Engineer from University of Aegean, Greece, in 2004 and his MSc on Integrated Hardware and Software Systems from Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras, in 2006. Today he completes his PhD thesis which performs at the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras. His research interests include protocols and algorithms for optical networks and distributed systems.
Since 2006, he is with the Greek School Network and Networking Technologies Directorate of Computer Technology Institute and Press “Diophantus” participating in numerous National and European projects at the area of large-scale high-speed networks and e-infrastructures, initially with the role of users’ support and system engineer and then with the role of project management engineer. Also, he has participated at the preparation of various proposals at the area of ICT, submitted to national calls (National Strategic Reference Framework 2007-2013) and European calls (FP7, Horizon 2020, Erasmus+). For the period 2007-2011 he was also with the Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece, as a laboratory associate teaching various lessons related to Information and Communication Technologies. He has published 11 papers in various well-known refereed books, international conferences and journals.
