Dr. Michael Paraskevas was born in Greece in 1964. He received an electrical engineering degree from the University of Patras, Greece in 1989. In 1995 he received the PhD degree in audio compression techniques using perceptual model of human hearing. He has published more than 40 papers in international journals and conferences, has authored two books and two book chapters, he has participated in more than 30 committees of international journals and conferences and published work has collected more than 280 citations and has been reported in 46 patents.

He has extensive professional experience on issues regarding planning and implementation of large scale network infrastructures, electronic services and exploitation of ICTs in education and manages a large number of corresponding development projects. He is the Director of the Directorate of Greek School Network (www.cti.gr/nts) at Computer Technology Institute and Press “Diophantus”. He has been a lecturer in the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics, University of Patras (2002-2008) and a consultant teacher of the Greek Open University (2001 to now) on the topic "Principles of Software Engineering."

Since September 2011 he is Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer and Informatics Engineering Department of Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece (www.teiwest.gr). He teaches the undergraduate courses of Analogue Communications, Digital Communications, Signals and Systems, Digital Signal Processing, Information Society (older) and Laboratory of Databases (older). He coordinates and participates in the teaching of postgraduate courses of "Digital Communications Systems" and "Digital Signal Processing and Hardware Design" of postgraduate program “Technologies and Infrastructures for Broadband Applications and Services".

His current research interests are in digital signal processing techniques, signal theory, analogue and digital communications, next generation networks and e-government services, as well as in the exploiting the ICTs in the education.

He is a member of the IEEE, Technical Chamber of Greece and the Audio Engineering Society.
